BOTOX®
What is Botox® and how does it work?

Botox® cosmetic is a purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium, which reduces the activity of specific muscles that cause frown lines and crow’s feet. It is injected with a fine needle making it a nearly painless procedure.

How is Botox® different from Restylane®?

Restylane® is a natural, cosmetic filler that fills in space. In contrast, Botox® is a drug that blocks nerve transmission and relaxes the underlying muscles, which helps to smooth fine lines and wrinkles and thus preventing them from worsening. Many patients have been very pleased after receiving treatment with both products. As Botox® relaxes the muscle, Restylane® fills in the space.

What areas may be treated with Botox®?

The most commonly treated areas include the glabella (unibrow), frown lines of the forehead, and crow’s feet.

How long will my results last?

Typical results last 3-6 months.  In rare instances, some patients may not see any improvement in fine lines and wrinkles.

What are the risks associated with Botox®?

The most commonly reported side effects include headache, flu like symptoms, rash, bruising, and nausea.  Approximately 5% of patients will report transient eye drooping.  This may last 1-2 weeks.  Other more rare complications include shortness of breath and anaphlyaxis.

Am I a candidate for Botox®?

Patients who are pregnant, attempting to become pregnant, or may be pregnant or are breastfeeding should not receive Botox®.  Patients who have a known allergy to eggs, albumin, or any component of Botox® should not be treated.  Persons who also have known neurologic disease, active infection, or uncontrolled diabetes should also not be treated.

What is the cost of a treatment?

The cost of treatment varies depending on site and the extent of the fine lines and wrinkles. We use UPP (Unit Pricing Policy) to determine the cost of treatment.  This way you pay for only the number of units of product that you need.

A Botox® party is time especially reserved for you and your friends in the evening or on weekends.  We provide light hor’dourves and drinks (non-alcoholic).
